|In response to Re: Temperature - Pressure Relief Valve|
The one you have is "universal" in that it will also replace T&P valves in the side of the tanks which need a longer shank to clear the insulation. As long as the probe enters the water in the tank it is proper. You biggest problem may be reconnecting the discharge pipe because of the higher opening.
: I need to replace the temperature-pressure relief valve on my Sears Kenmore Power Miser 5 hot water heater, but the only replacement valve I can find has a longer shank than the original. The package says it is universal, but in the instructions it says to use the same shank size as the original, or else death may occur.
: The temperature probe doesn't appear to extend as far into the tank as the original.
: Is it safe?
