Kohler Wellworth constantly draining...

I just installed the first of many Kohler Wellworth toilets. It appears that the flush valve is leaking somewhere since the toilet runs about once an hour. If I turn off the shutoff valve the tank is empty in a 5-8 hours. Since it is draining completely (below the flap valve) I suspect the flush valve gasket on the bottom of the tank so I removed the tank and checked the gasket. It appears to be seated correctly and very snug. Should I attempt to caulk or seal the gasket? Thanks
