In response to Re: pipe thread tape vs. sealant?
: What do plumbers use these days to seal pipe threads -- something like RectorSeal T Plus 2 pipe thread sealant or the traditional pipe thread tape? Any advantages to the liquid sealant?

Plumbers use different techniques for different applications. Some will even say you do not need thread sealant of any type because of the tapered threads, which is nonsense.
I like to play it safe and assemble the joint once with no leaks, I use the appropriate teflon tape and RectorSeal #5 on almost all threaded connections and rarely if ever have a leak.
