Lukewarm showers, suddenly

I have a Kohler Fairfax tub/shower faucet. Over the past month, I've noticed that my showers have gotten increasingly lukewarm with the handle at "Hot" (maxed). I get perfectly hot water from the sink. I adjusted the temperature screw in the tub faucet, didn't make much difference. Is my only recourse to replace the valve assembly? Anyone had this problem? I checked the drywall, downstairs ceiling, and plumbing access panel for leaks, didn't find any. Thanks!
