What is the average life cycle of Rheem hot water tank?

Greetings, I would like to know what the average (if there is such a thing) life cycle/span of a hot water tank. I have: Rheem 50 RUUD Professional Grade tank (50 galon, gas). It now produces less than half of its capacity, and, it was installed just over 7 years ago. (I had an extended warranty that covered 7 years, but it expired about 23 days ago.) Is it normal for this kind of tank to end its life cycle at 7 years? Thank you for any input. Sincerely, Kay
