: My pump seems to turn on and off frequently. Tonight it seems to have an electrical burning smell. I tried to check to see if it was running correct, but I couldn't tell. It seems if the shaft is held with springs some how. Should I be able to see a shaft turning the pump portion. I don't see anything turning and the springs look a little goofy. How does this pump work?? does anyone know?

The fact that the circulator is turning on & off frequently could be normal depending on how the thermostat is set.
The burning smell is not normal and should be checked by a plumber experienced in heating.
The coupler is visible through the openings, it connects the impellor shaft to the motor shaft and the springs do look a bit out of wack in there, but this is normal.
Try to oil the circulator, there are (3) ports.
