Shower valve location

Hi all,

Probably another stupid question. I'm installing a new fibreglass shower unit that is offset from the wall about 1 inch+. The new valve will also be an inch to inch and a half further out from the wall than the original location. Here's my question. For the supply lines to the valve, should I just just slant the lines so they run at an angle to meet the valve or should I make use of two elbows solder together halfway up the line:

so that the lines remain straight.
