longevity. The silicone will last longer and will not discolor as quickly as the putty. : I am trying to replace a new lavatory sink on a laminate countertop. Books suggest to apply a bead of the putty under the porcelain sink. Is it OK to use a bath and kitchen silicon instead of the putty? What is the difference between the plumber's putty and the silicon?
