You should change the orifice because someone will eventually open the valve all the way because they will assume someone was just to lazy to turn it on all the way. Your air at 8,000 ffet does not have enough oxygen for the gas you are burning.

: I recently installed a LPG water heater at 8,000ft.
: It seemed like the gas pressure was so high that the flame on the burner was practically blowing itself out.
: I partially closed the valve on the gas line and this seemed to fix the problem.
: Is this an OK fix, or do I need to get a different orifice for the heater at this altitude?
: Thanks,
: Curt
