In response to Re: PVC to cast iron transition fitting
: I'm installing a new branch drain into a clean out that is cast iron. I have taken the clean out plug out, and neither a 3" or 4" threaded male pvc adapter fits (it's somewhere between the two). Is there a threaded adapter/fitting for this, or do I need something else?

: Can email picture if this would help.

The threads are for clean-out plugs only.
The correct way to do the install would be to melt the complete clean-out fitting out of the cast iron hub, remove the fitting.
Install another clean-out fitting, then make your branch connection.
If the existing clean-out is on the vertical, it can be a sanitary TY.
If horizontal, it needs to be a Y.
Good Luck. e-plumber
