Hi Paula,
What happened with your bathroom? Did it clear up? I've been having the exact same problem in my bathroom for over one week now. I've scrubbed everything, looked under the cabinet and can't find anything. I'm getting nervous that it's toxic mold or fungus because it doesn't seem to be going away! What did you do?

: : : For one week now, we've been smelling something in our bathroom that (to me) smells like a dead rat. My husband went up in the attic and cannot smell or see anything there. He thinks it may be a vent pipe stopped up or another problem with venting. I'm just tired of smelling the stink! Help!

: : Check under the vanity cabinet for a dead rodent or if you have forced air heating, there could be a dead animal in one of the ducts and the stench is being carried to the bathroom. It could also be a wax seal for the toilet but that odor is not the same as a dead animal. It is probably not a plumbing vent issue.
: : Good Luck. e-plumber

: Thanks e-plumber. The smell actually may be going away a bit now. The stench peaked over the weekend, but seems to be better which indicates to me that the rodent is probably decomposing. There is nothing under the sink and we don't have any air/heating vents in this bathroom, only a vent/light kit that I've kept running for a week now to try to relieve the smell. Earlier today, my husband took the light cover off, but nothing. I'm guessing it's probably somewhere not easily reached. Do we just let it decompose to bones and leave it alone or what?
