A Stuck Bath Tub Drain

I am trying to remove our bathtub drain. The part that holds the screw in place is broken and the bath tub drain wrench is not able to lock onto the drain.The bath is 25years old and the drain is very firmly attached. Any suggestions how we can get it out without buying a new tub.
