reverse drain

I have a slugish drain. I opened up part of the floor and realized that the drain pipe reverses slightly towards the tub and slows the flow. The main stack is at a right angle to the tub and the drain goes across the bathroom from left to right, the tub being on the left side of the bathroom. The bath is on the second floor. Short of replumbing the drain from the cellar, how can I improve the draining. Is the a type of drain that is maid for low clearance that would bring the level of the drain up at the tub. A differnet type of trap, or do I have to raise the tub up on a platform.
