Check under the vanity cabinet for a dead rodent or if you have forced air heating, there could be a dead animal in one of the ducts and the stench is being carried to the bathroom. It could also be a wax seal for the toilet but that odor is not the same as a dead animal. It is probably not a plumbing vent issue.
