Installing Kohler tub-shower module

I'm in the process of adding a basement bathroom featuring a Kohler one-piece bath/shower module. According to their installation instructions, the unit should be level if the floor/framing is plumb and level. This doesn't seem to be the case. The unit is "pitched" back-to-front, which I would expect for drainage. However, it is also consistently "out-of-level" by 3/4 from side-to-side along its length. Placement of 3/4 plywood beneath the "short" side makes the unit perfectly level. Is this to be expected or a problem with the unit?

Separately, plywood is molded beneath the tub for support and the instructions state that no additional support is required. Any experience on the longevity of this "integral" support? Is additional support recommended?

Thanks for any input!
