Every time I run the washing machine which is on the second floor, I notice an odor in the basement, kinda like a sewer or rotten egg smell. I checked the pipes to see if there is any leaks and found nothing. It only smells in the basement when the washing machine is running, and when it is done, the smell goes away. How could a washing machine on the second floor of the house cause an odor in the basement? Any thoughts?
