There are different products available for touch-up's of this type but I would suggest having a professional handle it for you.
His/her service would come with a warranty.

A plumbing supply house / fixture distributor should be able to help.

Good Luck. *westchester plumber*

: The tub will not rust through if it is really cast iron, but what will happen is that the rust will grow and break more of the porcelain coating off.

: : Our bathtub has a semi-large chip that is forming rust (see picture). The tub itself seems and looks fairly modern- I think it was installed in 1993 by pervious owners. It is made by American Standard. I think it's cast iron because it feels solid and 'thumps' when struck by hand.
: : How bad is this situation? Will the rust progress to the point where a hole is created? Can the chip be repaired somehow? If looks don't matter, would a light coat of high grade silicone caulk help prevent further rusting or deterioration? Other than this chip, the tub is in great shape.
: : Thanks for any help.
