Bang,bang could be a loose washer in the valve. Tick, tick, could be condensation if your shower cooled the water in the tank below the condensation temperature of the flame.
: Two issues -- when I turn on the water to the master bath tub -- after it hasn't been run in a while -- a big CLANG, as if pipe/pipes are suddenly jolted.
: Also -- For about five minutes after shower, hot water heater makes a "ticking" or "dinging" sound.
