|In response to Re: How to remove cast iron waste pipe?|
If you hit it with a hammer you can forget about changing it to ABS or anything else until some section of the fractured pipe is replaced. Your only good option is to cut a section of pipe out, (using a snap cutter, a cutoff wheel, or a Sawzall and a lot of blades), and then replace it with the plastic.
: I need to remove a portion of my old cast iron waste pipe coming from the kitchen sink to the 4" main waste pipe. How do you remove this? Saw it? Hit it with a hammer? Sorry, never worked with this and I am not even sure if it is threaded or glued at the connections or anything really about this kind of pipe. I plan to replace it with and ABS.
