|In response to Re: ABS vs PVC DWV piping|
: PVC is a two step process needing a primer and then cement. ABS uses cement only. In most cases the decision will be made on the basis of which material is sold in an area. Few areas stock both materials since the contractors will usually favor one or the other.
: : If cost is not a consideration (priced about the same) is ABS better than PVC for DWV piping and fittings in general and particularly for the main drain underslab? Is there any difference in durability say if we have to run a snake thru it etc? Any difference in ease of assembly/labor hours?
ABS costs twice as much as PVC. Schedule 40 PVCDWV solid core pipe is stronger than ABS but their durability is similiar. LonnythePlumber
