|In response to Re: air gap|
: Selecting kitchen sink for new house. Builder indicated that an air gap is required based on local code. Since an air gap is somewhat unsightly, is a high drain loop at 20 inches above the floor an acceptable alternative?
Since they are so ugly (and will eventually fail), they usually are not installed unless code requires it. If code allows you to loop the discharge hose, it needs to be brought up to the underside of the counter and secured.
