|In response to Re: Americast Tubs|
I was replacing my cast iron tub in my bathroom recently and bought one of those americast tubs. Looked sweet and was very light. When I got home and took it out of the box, I was a little dissapointed in the quality of the particular one I got. It was separating between the cast and the metal (yes, that is dentable, chippable metal no matter how they phrase it). I ended up bringing it back and getting another cast iron tub. I know that they are tough. I had to break my old one to get it out and let me tell you, they are much more durable than any other material!
If you do change it, consider a cast iron tub. Also on a different note, did you level the surface before you put it in? Also, did you use a riser in the back the entire length of the tub? Very important if needed.
