|In response to Re: ABS coupling connection|
: Either way that you are proposing is a "makeshift" repair. There is no certainty that it will stop the leak, nor that it will make a permanent repair. The proper way is to remove the leaking fitting and replace it.
: : I have a leaking ABS coupling leaking on the down side of a vertical DWV . It is in such a place that using a ferco coupling would be very difficult if not impossible. I can dry the coupling with a heat gun but can I use regular cement (abs) to fill the space or could I use RTV is such a situtation? This is in a wall just below the upstairs bathroom.
HJ is right in saying better to fix it properly. BUT you say there is a"space" at coupling, so you might try swabbing in some ABS cement and it may "reweld" the coupling. Worth a 5 minute try. lol Hube
