A hanger may not be strong enough, but make a "V" at the end of it. Make the short end of the V about 2" long and have the opening between the two sides of the V about 1". Slide the wire down the drain, making sure it is well past the bottom of the tub, then pull it back up. Keep doing it turning it a bit each time. Eventually, if the plunger is still in the drain, and it is not damaged or frozen in place, you will snag it and then, hopefully, be able to pull it out.
: Is there an sure fire way to get what I think is a dropped plunger, from a bath tub drain. I have been fishing with a hanger for a few hours and no luck. I am not sure even what I am tryng to grab, if its even in there. I have no other backusp with toilet or sink, just a very slow tub drain. I have dropped cleaners and trued augers, but nothing is coming out as fr as hair or gunk. I guess my last alternative is to cut the wall open and replace the drain assembly.
