|In response to Re: Screeching Baseboard Heater|
You say it is an electric heater? The only thing I can think of would be some side-effect of thermal expansion - something is having to adjust as the heating element elongates when it heats up.
I have no suggestions on a remedy, however. You generally don't want to mess with heater components - you could risk compromising some safety features.
: I just bought a house - halfway through my first night in the master bedroom, I was awakened by the electric baseboard heater making what I would call a screeching sound. It's not loud, by home stereo standards, but it's high pitched, constant, and starts out loud enough to wake a normal sleeper. It then gradually fades over the next minute or two... It seems to come from the entire length of the heater, but I'm not sure. What could this be?
