Make very certain that you have an electrical service and panel to support the load of an instantaneous electric water heater (see a manufacturer for requirements). The electrical requirement is very substantial. Also verify that there is no possibility of scalding under very low flow rates, as most instantaneous water heaters (my experience is with gas)control flow to control temperature. If you are using your existing WH to preheat to, say, 100 degrees you can run a substantial flow, but what if a small child turns on a faucet to just a trickle of hot water only?
