|In response to Re: Help with my shower handles, please|
: I have a fiberglass shower with 2 separate handles for hot and cold water. My problem is that water slowly (but getting heavier lately) leaks from the base of the handle and my hot water pressure stinks. Cold water is fine and i have no other problems with hot water in the entire house, only in this shower. There is a stain running down the wall from the hot water handle leaking so much. The stain is rust colored. Does anybody have any reccomendations of what to repair/replace/investigate? I am not a plumber and this is my first house. I have replaced a kitchen faucet and a bath sink faucet, but this seems a little more complicated. Any help would be appreciated.
It sounds like an older faucet with washers and o-rings.Either way you'd have to shut the water off ,pull the cartridge and check it out.It could be a loose washer and the screw holding it causing the rust and pressure problem. It sounds like the o-ring on the stem could be causing the leak from the handle. All of which can be found at your local hardware store. Just some thoughts hope it helps
