To check the elements properly, the electricity has to be on. Your questions indicate that you may not have the necessary experience to test the water heater to find out which parts, if any, are defective. Call a plumber. he will be cheaper than replacing good parts and still having a problem.
: The water is not very hot and the termostat is at the highest setting....how do I check the elements and how do I change them if bad? How would I check the termostat? Do I need to drain the water to change the elements?
