Another option is to add a layer of exterior grade plywood. Also make sure the floor is level. Mine wasn't. : Hi : Today I just ripped out the wet bed, wire mesh and tile from my early 1970's bathroom (quite an exhausting job). The thickness of the material removed is 1.25 inches. I am thinking ahead, when I put in the new concrete backer board and then the thin set and tiles, my finished height will be somewhat less that the elevation of the toilet flange. : My question is should I put in a double thickness of concrete backer board or should cut and put in a new toilet flange. : If the answer is to replace the toilet flange, how difficult of a job is it and how is it done? : Thanks in advance : Vince
