Might be a dumb idea but can you notch the studs 1/2" per side and use a 34X34? : I have torn out a tile shower that had a 33" x 33" inch base. The old shower base (fiberglass ?)is still physically sound but looks rather unattractive. I have just about given up finding a direct replacement. Any ideas? Or, do you have any suggestions for refinishing the old base?
