Unless the remaining anode causes problems such as foul smelling water, then there is no need to replace it until it starts leaking.
: I was removing the anode from my hot water heater when most of it broke off. So now most of the anode is sitting at the bottom of the tank. Does the hot water heater have to be replaced immediately. Thanks.
