The single handle bath faucet has a small steel cylinder shower valve below it, which you press in to change the water flow from the bath tap to the shower.
Something happened and now the water squirts straight out around the cylinder at high pressure and the pressure drops so that barely a spray of water comes out of the shower head.
There are two screws on either side of the round metal plate through which the tap and shower valve cylinder extend.
Can I repair this myself? I am reluctant to remove the two screws to find out if something has simply slipped off the cylinder beneath the plate.
