europe vs america

I married a Finn and as were are remodeling we have been looking for european style shoqer fittings, particularly exposed thermostatic shower valves. Most of those we found in the states are very expensive pieces from Hansa America and HansGrohe, american counter parts of german faucet makers. We might be able to have Oras fittings shipped from Finalnd where the prices are much more reasonable. My question is, are there difference in plumbing between europe and the us that would make faucets/valves purchased there incompatible with existing plumbing/code here?

Thanks,
Karl
