My cast iron floor flange pulled loose from the cast iron waste pipe and needs to be reattached. I understand this is done using oakum and lead. Is this a do-it-yourself project for a semi-handyman? If so, how exactly is it done? If not, how long should it take a licensed plumber to make this repair?
Also, when this repair is finished, will the joint be strong enough for the flange to securely hold the toilet in place? This particular flange is only attached to the waste pipe, not to the floor. Thanks in advance.
