I'm not sure of any value of draining the house during non-freezing weather, but you didn't hurt anything. To drain the house lines, you would open the lowest faucet and open a faucet at the highest level to break the vacuum seal. I think they would drain eventually without the high faucet open, but it would take time. If there is any place in the system that has a dip, the low spot will never drain without being blown out with compressed air. Probably the easiest way to tell if you have such a spot, is to drain the system via gravity. Then put compressed air to it and monitor the drain faucet to see if any more water comes out. If there is none, you can drain the system with gravity OK.
