|In response to Re: Replacing or repairing the pipe from the water main to the house|
I do not know who "they" are, but it appears that they are trying to make a mountain out of a molehill and get you to pay for it. PVC is a common material for the outside water line, and the repair is fairly simple depending on how deep it is buried. The male adapter where the PVC connects to the house copper has probably snapped. We repair about one of these a week.
: The pipe between our house and water main is leaking and spilling over the foundation into our basement. We were told the pipe is probably PVC and will have to be completely replaced with copper. They said they aren't allowed to repair the pipe and PVC isn't used any more. Could this be right? They also said they can't tell where the leak is, even though we have one large puddle right in front of our house, so I assume the leak is under there. Does this sound right? Thanks.
