|In response to Re: PVC or ABS|
Your Uncle who is a plumber wants to use ABS because he has experience with PVC (polyvinyl chloride) pipe failures and he doesn't want your pipes to fail. ABS is styrene plastic, is heavier wall, allows the glue solvent to soften the walls of the pipe to ensure a welded joint to prevent liklihood of root intrusion into joints, and doesn't fracture so easily when your friends backfill the trench poorly with big rocks and allow grinding upon the pipe surface for the next sixteen years as the backfill settles. Listen to your Uncle. He's a Plumber. He probably reads these postings allowed so wonderfully by Terry Love! Spend some of the money you are saving by using your Uncle, and spend it on the Terry Love quality products.
: I am building a new home in Utah. I am ready to do my under slab plumbing. Should I use ABS or PVC. My uncle, who is a plumber wants to use ABS, but everybody else around uses PVC. Please HELP!
