|In response to Re: problem with hot water heater?|
The mfgr's date is on the heater as part of the serial number. But the cause of your problem could be one of many possibilities. Even if we listed all of them, yours could be something different. The only sure way to find out is to have the water heater and the plumbing checked. I have even had townhouses that had water heater systems switched so that the heater in the unit was actually supplying hot water to a neighbor and vice versa.
: I just purchased a townhouse, in which the hot water heater is about 2-3 years old (so I'm told -- I don't have an owner's manual and the manufacture date isn't on the heater). The problem is my hot water is inconsistent -- sometimes I let it run a few seconds and it gets sufficiently hot; other times, I let it run and run and it gets no warmer than lukewarm if I'm lucky. I have read advice on the internet, but haven't seen anything that addresses my problem exactly. Can you help? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
