: I am considering replacing my existing 30+ year old galvanized pipe with copper. The job seems rather simple but 2 areas where the pipe goes to the outside faucets will be real difficult to get to. Both of these lines have brass shut offs prior to them going to outside. My question is can I have copper going to brass shut offs that then go to existing galvanized pipe or will I get electrolytic corrosion. I know I can mix brass with copper and brass with galvanized with out problem but what happens when I mix the 3.

Gary,
Once copper is added to a system, the galvanized will have a shorter life.
When I do repipes, I take out every bit of galvanized pipe I can find. If I don't, someone else will have to sooner or later.
