|In response to washing machine drainpipe|
: There is no minimum distance, but although your description is not too clear, it appears that what you are describing is both illegal and will not do what you want it to anyway.
: : Roto Roter has informed me that the floor drain P trap in my basement has a hole in it. The pipe in the floor is 2" cast iron. I would like to use PVC and install a drainpipe which runs up the wall to the drain line of the washing machine. What is the minimum distance you can put a Y pipe or a T pipe from the P trap at the floor drain, so when the washing machine empties it's water, the water doesn't back up through the floor drain? Also, what type of connection do you use between cast iron and PVC under the basement floor?iron and PVC under the basement floor?
