The rust is forming because the surface protectant has been chipped away, and allows water to oxidize the exposed metal. Remove the drain fixture, clean the area of rust, install a new pop-up and apply liberal epoxy type caulk which matches the fixture color exactly.......or.......replace the lav. : Kohler C.I. white oval lav sink is rusting badly around the pop-up. Any suggestions?
