Durability of Tranchless sewer pipe liner

Just how durable are the resin-filled balloon liners used for trenchless sewer pipe repair? Our pipe is still straight (no shifted offsets), but has several existing cracks/gaps, and I wonder if such a liner would bubble out through them and develop weak spots? Can tree roots poke through the liner back into the pipe? Is the liner as strong as a new pipe, without having to dig up the landscaping?
