Between the stem and the part that screws in is a white or clear plastic ring. That ring is either broken or missing. It is what keeps the water from coming out of the spout when you use the shower. : I have a Price Phister Diverter valve, about 18 or 19 years old and the diverter knob no longer sends all the water through the shower head, only about a third of it the rest though the spout. I have gotten the valve out and replaced the rubber washer at the end, put still have the problem. Could I be missing a part, could a gasket / washer have decomposed? : Thank you for your help!!!
