mechanical vent

I replaced my island kitchen sink and replumbed the drain - the old thinwall PVC was pretty ratty. The mechanical vent I installed frequently makes a vibrating noise as water drains away, after the sink is empty. Is that normal? I don't recall the old one (which I threw away) doing it. I'm suspicious since the vent was about $3.98 at Home Depot, but I haven't used these before, so before I bother replacing it, I thought I'd ask... it's not horribly annoying...
