: I have to install a new toilet onto existing bolts that are embedded into concrete slab. I have layed tile on top of the slab, but I
: didn't tile around the bolts, so there is a quarter inch drop from the tile surface to the slab about one inch surrounding the drain
: hole. So my question is: will the wax ring seal properly over this irregularity? Do I need to install some kind of flange before I put
: the toilet down? Or do I need to tile right up to the edge of the drain hole?
Don't tile up to the drain hole. Tile should go the the outer edge of the toilet flange. The flange is a 7" round circle as typical. You need acces for replacing bolts. I suggest replacing the bolts at this time.
