Unusual dishwasher install

I have a verrrry small kitchen, and there is absolutely no way to install a dishwasher near the sink. It actualy is going to have to be on the other side of the room. I have a basement, and I can run whatever is necessary to make this work. I'd like to stay as "legal" as possible. The dishwasher has a food grinder on it which is "suppossed" to allow for worry free discharge without going to a disposal. My thinking is that I run my drain loop up the 20 or so inches and then drop the drain line into the basement. From here I can run a drain PIPE around the laundry room wall to the main drain. Would I need an air gap in this situation? Any thoughts or opinions are appreciated. Thanks for making such an informative board Terry!
