Low water pressure in shower

I live in a 40-year old ranch-style house, with an electric water heater. Over the past year, the water pressure in the shower has been gradually decreasing. The pressure in all other faucets appears to be greater, and doesn't appear to have changed. Can anyone suggest what the problem and solution might be? Also, is there a way I can accurately measure the pressure at different faucets throughout the house to accurately compare the pressure?
