They have value under three conditions.
1. You plan to use a lot of hot water.
2. You do not have space for a conventional tank type water heater.
3. You plan to install multiple water heaters in the vicinity of the bathrooms.
Unless you have one of these conditions, the added cost of the unit, and gas is the only viable tankless heater, and its installation will not be justified. There is very little operating expense savings, and a tankless heater will not heat the water if you are just using a small flow.
