|In response to Re: New tank leaking...Help!|
: I am on my second new Crane Radcliff lined tanks. They both leak at the bottom where the flapper is secured to the tank bottom. It slowly oozes out around the big nut underneath. It is like the seal against the ceramic inside is not right (which is set up by the factory.) Any suggestions...or do I just keep driving an hour each way to take it back to the city?
Try taking off the tank again and while the manufacturer is against this, this is how I was taught how to put on a tank, the big cone shaped gasket around the fill tube, put pipe dope all over it paint it with it, and the bottom of the tank to bowl bolt rubber gaskets too, even paint the foam gasket that goes between the tank and bowl with it, they say the pipe dope starts to break down the rubber after a while but I've never had a call back on one.
