I have a one story ranch house built some time in the 1950s (a "starter" or "retirement" home) and I am having problems with my sewer line. Lots of roots were pulled out when it was snaked (from the roof vent). Just so I will be well informed about sewer line replacment costs, I am getting quotes from different firms. What should I look for in a quote? About how long is a quote usually good for?
Also, the guy who last snaked it charged me extra for having to dig past a certain point when clearing one of the lines (nothing was in that line). Is this right? He cost me double what other snaking jobs had cost me (the other times it was the city's line that was at fault).
